Welcome to 1st Chilton Scout Group
We are 1st Chilton Scout Group, a friendly and active Scout group based at St Aidan’s Church Hall. We offer fun, adventure, and skills for life to young people in our community—helping them grow in confidence, make new friends, and learn by doing.
Our group has a proud Scouting history in the area, and we’ve been running in our current form since 2009. Today, we continue to thrive thanks to the energy of our young members and the commitment of our volunteer leaders.
Who Can Join?
We currently run three sections, each tailored to different age groups:
- Beavers (ages 6–8)
 - Cubs (ages 8–10½)
 - Scouts (ages 10½–14)

Each section runs its own programme of activities, offering new challenges, skills, and experiences every week. We also support a small number of Young Leaders (aged 14–18), with a maximum of two per section.
What We Do
We believe in learning by doing—and having fun while doing it. Our sessions are packed with activities that help young people grow and develop in all sorts of ways. Some of the things we get up to include:
- Games and team challenges
 - Outdoor activities like hiking and cooking over fires
 - Creative crafts and problem-solving
 - Badge work, skills building, and personal milestones
 - Community involvement and charity support
 - Camps and adventures (for older sections)

Whether we’re indoors or out, there’s always something new to try.
Our Scout Values
As part of the UK Scout Association, we follow Scouting’s core values:
- Integrity – Being honest and doing the right thing
 - Respect – Treating others the way we’d like to be treated
 - Care – Looking out for others and our community
 - Belief – Exploring our own beliefs and respecting those of others
 - Co-operation – Working together and making a difference

We also live by the famous Scout motto: Be Prepared.
Powered by Volunteers
Our group is run entirely by a dedicated team of volunteers. From section leaders to behind-the-scenes helpers, our adults give their time to make sure our young people get the best possible experience. We’re always open to new helpers, whether it’s every week or just occasionally.
If you’re thinking about getting involved—just ask! No previous Scouting experience is needed.
